Description

Embark on an exciting adventure in a unique Volkswagen Safari and explore some of Bali’s most beautiful sites during this one-day tour. Your holiday on this amazing island is not complete without seeing the dramatic temple of Tanah Lot, so this is your first stop of the day. Leave the vast Indian Ocean behind you and drive north towards the monkey forest of Alas Kedaton, the marvelous green rice terraces of Jatiluwih, the 1.200 meter-high village of Bedugul and the traditional town of Baha. After this trip, you will agree that exploring Bali in a Volkswagen Safari is a truly memorable experience!

Itinerary

Hop in your Volkswagen Safari and drive to today’s first exciting attraction, Tanah Lot. Bali’s most famous temple sits on a large offshore rock formation continuously shaped by the strong ocean forces and is one of seven sea temples around the southwestern coast. Each of these temples is built within eyesight of the next to create a chain along Bali’s southwestern coast.

Leave Tahan Lot behind you and drive to Alas Kedaton, a small monkey forest in the middle of green rice fields. The tame monkeys are said to be guardians of the holy Alas Kedaton Temple and happily greet all visitors. Don’t forget to look up, as apart from the many monkeys, there are hundreds of giant bats hanging on the trees.

Make sure there is no monkey trying to catch a free ride in your Volkswagen Safari and continue your journey north towards the Hindu temple of Batukaru, located on the southern slope of Bali’s second-highest volcano, Mount Batukaru. This temple is one of nine ‘kayangan jagat’ or directional temples, built to guard Bali from evil spirits. It is still a very sacred place to the Balinese Hindu population, and many of the complex’ grounds are not accessible to visitors for various ceremonies and events throughout the year.

Jatiluwih means ‘truly marvelous’ and you will soon understand why. This stunning area in the centre of Bali is known for its countless centuries-old green rice terraces amongst high mountains and lush forests. Most people in the Jatiluwih region are traditional farmers, using water buffaloes to cultivate their land. Be dazzled by this exceptional panorama and the dozens shades of green.

From green to blue, as you continue your Volkswagen Safari journey to Bedugul, 1.200 meters above sea level. This mountain lake resort is famous for the Pura Ulun Danu Beratan water temple and the Eka Karya Botanic Garden. Constructed in 1663, the water temple is mainly used for offering ceremonies to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu. The botanic garden, 157 hectares and overlooking Beratan Lake, is operated by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences and is used for botanical research, conservation, education and recreation. It is home to no less than 18.000 plants belonging to 2100 different species!

Last stop of the day is the traditional village of Baha. The uniqueness of this village is the uniformity of the entrance gates of the different family grounds combined with the traditional building style.

Return to your hotel in late afternoon.

Topdag!

Topdag!
