Day 1: Maumere/Ende – Moni

  • In Maumere/Ende, you meet and greet your tour guide or you are picked up from your hotel before driving to Moni. You visit the Detusoko area to see the lush terraced rice fields on the slopes.
  • Upon arrival in Moni, you check in at the Kelimutu Ecolodge, the Bintang Lodge or the Flores Sare Hotel.

Day 2: Moni – Kelimutu – Bajawa

  • You get up at 4 am to watch the sunrise above Kelimutu three colored crater lakes. Kelimutu is a beautiful site and you probably haven’t seen anything like this before.
  • After the sunrise, you drive to Bajawa and enter the Lio’s ethnic region. You visit Koanara and learn more about daily local life and architecture. Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Ende.
  • You continue your journey to Bajawa with a stop at the blue stone beach of Penggajawa, where you can see local woman collecting stones to sell.
  • Overnight stay and meals at the Bintang Wisate Hotel or the Happy2 Hotel.

Day 3: Bajawa – Ruteng

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you explore the traditional Bajawa tribe villages. One of them is Bena, a megalithic village where people honor their ancestral spirits in their daily life. An example are the “Ngadhu” and “Bhaga”, conical thatched roof huts symbolizing their male and female ancestral spirits. Along the way, you stop on the slopes of the active volcano Mount Inerie. Lunch is served en route.
  • You stop at Aimere to see how “arak” is distilled and at Ranamese Lake for fresh palm juice tapping.
  • Upon arrival at charming Ruteng, you check in at Saint Maria Berduka Cita Guesthouse or the Marios Hotel.
  • In the afternoon you visit “Liang Bua”, home to the Homo Florensies, or the traditional houses of the Manggarai tribe.

Day 4: Ruteng – Labuan Bajo

  • Today you drive to Labuan Bajo, with stops at Lembor and/or Cancar. Here you can see the world famous Lingko spider-web-shaped rice fields.
  • Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Labuan Bajo. Dinner and overnight stay at Laprima Hotel.

Day 5: Labuan Bajo – Rinca – Komodo

  • After breakfast, you are transferred to the pier of Labuan Bajo. You embark a vessel for a two-and-a-half-hour sailing trip to Rinca Island, where you can see the Komodo dragons. Upon arrival on Rinca Islands, you start your hike and walk through the typical dry forest to explore the island. Apart from the Komodo dragons, you can also spot deer, buffalo, long-tailed macaques, wild pigs and many bird species.
  • Return to the boat and sail to Kalong Island to see thousands of flying foxes fly out from the mangrove trees between 6 and 7 pm.
  • Lunch, dinner and overnight stay on the boat.

Day 6: Komodo – Pink Beach – Manta Point – Labuan Bajo

  • After breakfast, you sail to Loh Liang, the Komodo Ranger station. You start your trek on Komodo Island under the guidance of a professional ranger. Komodo Island is a reservation for the Komodo dragons. From a platform, you can see how the dragons are fed. This is an excellent opportunity to see them close-up.
  • Afterwards, you return to the boat and sail to Pink Beach for swimming and snorkeling.
  • You continue your trip towards Manta Point, where you can go snorkeling amongst the impressive manta rays. If you are lucky, you can even see them from the boat. We can never guarantee seeing manta rays as it depends on the weather and the currents.
  • Lunch is served on board. You return to Labuan Bajo in the afternoon for overnight stay at the Laprima Hotel.

Day 7: Labuan Bajo – Maumere/Ende

  • After breakfast, you go on a short city sightseeing tour and visit the Batu Cermin Cave. This grotto is 75 by 75 meters large and is home to many stalactites and stalagmites. Some tunnels are narrow and dark but in others sunlight shines through the cracks.

Flores Komodo adventure trip 7D/6N
