After the break, you cycle to the pier where all bicycles are loaded on the boat. Around sunset you meet your host family for a delicious meal of local specialities. Tonight you sleep in a simple camp bed in a dorm-style arrangement, with bedding and mosquito nets provided. The toilet and bathroom facilities are shared and include a hot water shower.

Day 2: Ben Tre – Tra Vinh – Tra On
After breakfast, you get on your bike for an easy flat ride through shady canal paths and back roads, while enjoying fresh fruit and a tasty lunch along the way. By midday, you arrive at a wide part of the Mekong River, where a ferry takes you across to Tra Vinh. Together with your guide, you bike through Khmer villages and visit the Khmer Pagoda School to learn more about the Khmer student’s life.
Around late afternoon you arrive at your hosts’ house in Tra On, where you can join them in cooking a traditional dinner. There is also time to stroll around town before dinner to get a glimpse of daily life in Tra On.
Cycling distance: minimum 40 km, maximum 70 km
Day 3 : Tra On – Vinh Long – Ho Chi Minh City
Rise and shine early for your final day in the Mekong Delta! This region is well-known for its numerous floating markets. Today you visit one of Tra On’s local floating markets, where vegetables are tossed from boat to boat, and a small coffee vendor boat serves strong, iced coffee to both vendors and customers. Allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the explosion of colours, sounds and scents, before returning to the house for breakfast. Make sure you stock up on enough calories for exploring more of those lovely canal paths by bike. Apart from the occasional motor scooter or pedestrian, you don’t see many people in this remote, rustic part of the delta.
