This trip is a great mix of fun and culture. In the morning, you have the opportunity to try different watersport activities at Tanjung Benoa Beach and you can go to a few other beaches. In the afternoon, you visit the Uluwatu Temple where you can enjoy a traditional Kecak dance performance. You end the day with a candlelight dinner at Jimbaran Bay.
The temple’s location is remarkable; it is perched on a cliff 70 metres above the roaring Indian ocean waves. There are steep headlands on each side and the sunsets over Uluwatu are amazing. Be aware that you need to be properly dressed to enter the temple. Sarongs and sashes are available for free at the entrance. You are free to walk around the temple grounds, but the central courtyards can only be entered during special rituals. The Balinese Kecak dance is a spectacular traditional dance with a group of people performing using fire. It is an exciting and unique dance due to the particular sound. Instead of using gamelan the dancers use their mouth. Besides the temple, Uluwatu is also a very well-known destination among surfing enthusiasts. Don’t forget to have a look at the scenic cave underneath, with rock formations leading onto a beach close to the temple.
