Typical for Sikkimese cuisine are the Momos – hot steamed flour dumplings filled with minced meat, cheese or vegetables accompanied by home made chilli sauce and hot soup – and Thukpa – a Tibetan style noodle soup. The best time to travel to Sikkim is probably from October to mid-November, as the weather is clearest and the monsoon season has come to an end. Spring season, from March to May when spring blossoms and warmth make up for the possibility of cloudier skies, is also worth considering. Taking into account that Sikkim’s climate ranges from tropical to alpine, it is recommended to pack practical clothes that you can wear layer-over-layer. Sikkim is a true trekker’s delight.
